Welcome to That Damn Gypsy. This is a site set up by me for you. There has been a lot of discussion on what we'd like to do with rapier and the [[SCA]] (Society for Creative Anachronism) and what it is that I'd like to see in this world. Well, this is my attempt to give those that share in the ideals of the SCA a chance to express themselves. This project is starting out as an SCA Rapier project, but I bet that it will morph by insane amounts, given time. I want that to happen. I don't want a site that is focused on any one kingdom, barony or household.

I want a repository of information that includes ALL of the collective resources out there (you). I want profile pages set up for EVERY rapier fighter in the SCA, so that whenever anyone starts talking about "Lady X of the Shadow Stalkers" those that are discussing will know who it is that we're talking about. I want to have a place where the Middle Kingdom can share their cheat sheets on each fighter that they may face at a major battle. I want the people of Calontir, to know the people that are championing their cause. I want Atlantians to actually know all the people that come up on their list serves. I want to know who's who in Æthelmearc, Ansteorra, An Tir, Artemisia, Atenveldt, Atlantia, Caid, Calontir, Drachenwald, Ealdormere, East, Gleann Abhann, Lochac, Meridies , Middle, Northshield, Outlands, Trimaris, West, and any where else that I may have missed.

I want to have a place where people can say what they want without having to worry about pissing off the higher-ups. (Okay, I know this one is less likely, as this will be an open site to anyone that wishes to be here, including the higher-ups, but it will be a safe haven for some that just want to have a voice, and may be afraid to do so in their home kingdom.)

I want a place where people can openly talk about their various rules, tournament styles, favorite merchants, period techniques, or why they hate period techniques, new ideas, old tricks, and more. All of this I want to make available to anyone that wants to do it in a grown up style of discussion. I will not tolerate flame wars, but I'm fine with profanity, so long as it makes sense. I hate misspellings, and poor grammar for more reasons than lack of legibility, but more so because it makes you look like a moron. If you have something to say... then please do so, but make sure it is written in a way that people will listen to the content, and not a the sentence structure.
